ABOUT
OUR MISSION
Rentrobuff Productions is a Montreal-based theatre company founded in 2018 by Nicolas Mancuso. We aim to serve the theatre community by producing meaningful and unconventional musical theatre that will showcase the triple-threat talents of our brightest local actors. In presenting acclaimed musicals that boast both thematic depth and character-based storytelling, we hope to start conversations about human behaviour and make lasting impressions on our audiences.
OUR NAME
What the heck does ‘Rentrobuff’ mean? A portmanteau that founder Nicolas Mancuso coined as a teenager in tribute to the three pop culture forces that had most shaped him as an artist and a human during his formative years, the term is an expression of love to Rent, Rosie O’Donnell, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
OUR FOUNDER
Born and raised in Montreal, Nicolas Mancuso is an actor and singer who most recently appeared as Dr. Everett Scott in MainLine Theatre’s production of The Rocky Horror Show. Nicolas made his musical theatre debut as Margaret Mead and a tribe member in Hair (In the Wings Promotions) and also appeared in It Shoulda Been You at the Segal Centre (Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre). Nicolas is a proud graduate of the Professional Theatre program (Dome) at Dawson College, where his roles included Thwackum/Capt. Fitzpatrick in Tom Jones, Freddy Eynsford-Hill in Pygmalion, Mark in The Shadow Box, and Rev. Winemiller in Summer and Smoke. Nicolas has also sung on stage for Scapegoat Carnivale, the Lyric Theatre Singers, and Full Circle Productions. Following his graduation from theatre school, he took a brief ten-year hiatus from performing, during which he completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature from, respectively, Concordia University and Ryerson University.
